TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN OF BROWARD IS THE LOCAL AFFILIATE OF A STATEWIDE FLORIDA NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR LOW-INCOME AND AT-RISK STUDENTS TO ESCAPE THE CYCLE OF POVERTY THROUGH EDUCATION. OFFERING STUDENTS CARING VOLUNTEER MENTORS, COLLEGE READINESS, AND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS, TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN FOSTERS YOUTHS' POTENTIAL TO SUCCEED! WE ARE WORK WITH YOUTH AS EARLY AS 6TH GRADE AND SERVE THEM THROUGH THEIR FIRST 18 MONTHS INTO POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. OUR APPROACH IS A HOLISTIC ONE WHERE WE MATCH LOW-INCOME YOUTH WITH A CARING MENTOR AND COLLEGE SUCCESS COACHES, WHO GUIDE THEM TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND POST-SECONDARY MATRICULATION. EACH ONE OF OUR STUDENTS SIGNS A CONTRACT TO MAINTAIN GOOD GRADES, ATTENDANCE, AND BEHAVIOR, WHILE REMAINING CRIME- AND DRUG- FREE ON THEIR PURSUIT OF A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. THEIR REWARD UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF OUR PROGRAM IS A FLORIDA PREPAID SCHOLARSHIP, WHICH HELPS ALLEVIATE THEIR FINANCIAL BARRIERS TO PURSUING A POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION.
